Old-Time Fiddle & Cross-Tuning Workshop with Hillary Klug Explore the sound, rhythm, and tradition of old-time fiddling with internationally touring fiddler Hillary Klug. This workshop will focus on traditional old-time repertoire and the rich, resonant sound of cross-tuned fiddle. Hillary will teach tunes by ear while exploring bowing, rhythm, drones, and the stylistic details that give traditional fiddle music its distinctive sound.

Spaces are limited and students must register in advance. Folks can call The Bluegrass Shack (618-475-3678) to sign up and pay for the the workshop.

Dance Workshop

Join two-time National Buck Dance Champion Hillary Klug for a fun, high-energy workshop exploring traditional Appalachian percussive dance! This workshop is open to everyone—no dance experience required.

Hillary will begin with approachable beginner steps and build toward putting those steps together into choreography and improvisation. Along the way, students will explore rhythm, musicality, and how to begin developing their own individual dance style.

For dancers ready for more of a challenge, Hillary will also teach advanced buck dance steps from her own repertoire. Students will be encouraged to film the final steps so they can take them home and continue practicing and learning after the workshop.
